Prince Lachlan Niao, King Meray Niao and Garetma de Darmott[/b]
Lachlan Naio, Prince of D'gran, closed the book in his father's chambers and dismissed the king's butler. Lachlan had been surprised that he was sitting up today. He had been sick for months now, each day getting closer to death. Lachlan knew that and would eventually step up as the figure head to his people.
"Lachlan, son, you must know that you will need to double the forces protecting the city for the arrival of the Elven Court tomorrow," Meray Niao said to his son.
"I realize that, Father," Lachlan's accent coming through clearly. "And it has already been taken care of. Now, you rest and I will back back later."
Lachlan strolled out of the chamber and out of the castle. He smiled as his second-in-command stepped in beside him. "Good morning, Garetma."
"Good morning, sire. Going somewhere without me?" came the reply from the half-elf.
"I am heading to the cliffs," Lachlan told him with a smile. "So rest easy, my friend. Now, how are our new recruits coming along?"
"Well, it looks like we have a good bunch for once. They..."
As he was given a status report, they walked through the city. He was greeted with "sire" and "your highness" as they walked. He nodded his greeting and continued to walk through the city, a little easy at the attention it brought him.

Dona
Dona stood primly in the doorway of her shop, unlike many of the shop owners in this particular section of the marketplace of D'gran. They leaned against the doorways, or sat in chairs and called out at people loudly enough to scare them away or bring them in, while still others simply walked alongside people trying to drag them into the shops.
Dona preferred to stand, and not waste her breath on those who didn't look twice at her shop. Aside from the usual lechers who only took a second glance to ask if she was for sale, some of the people were seriously interested in her wares.
While most scorned her and called her a mere witch, there were more who enjoyed buying trinkets as souvenirs, and those who were paranoid enough to buy protection from things that would never bother them at all in the first place.
An elderly couple passed her buy, and the man glanced scathingly at both how she was dressed and at the things she sold in her shop, while his wife simply smiled dreamily at everybody she passed.
Dona sighed. 'Not much business today...'

Lachlan, Danae and Garetma de Darmott[/b][/color]
Lachlan strolled through the crowded streets. People smiled as they entered the marketplace. You could find just about anything here, Lachlan knew. From jewelry to live animals to trinkets sometimes even slaves.
"Have the slavers returned to the market place?" Lachlan inquired to Garetma.
The half-elf shook his head. "The guards have not reported so. But that does not mean they haven't snuck in once again. With the coming of the elven royals, we don't have the normal patrols available for this area of the city," Garetma answered, his voice oozing in disdain.
The prince knew of his friends dislike for the elvish half of his heritage and let it slip past. "Well, have the guards we do have available report directly to me if those bastards do show their faces." Lachlan ordered, his accent thick.
"As you wish, sire," Garetma answered. As he finished he spotted Lady Dona standing in the door of her shop. "Ah, it seems the local sorceress has emerged from her cave."
Lachlan glanced over in the direction of Dona's shop and smiled. "To each his own," Lachlan answered.
"Surely you don't believe in such things as magicks," Garetma prodded.
'If you only knew, my friend,' Lachlan thought. He was about to answer when he saw someone coming quickly up on his left side.
Danae was lost in the village, never being this far away from her home in her entire life. The bustle was overwhelming to her and she didn't know anything. Something off to her right spooked her and she quickly walked away.
She looked up soon enough to see a man to her right. She recognized him as royalty and bowed, greeting him, "Good day, Your Highness."
Instinctively, Garetma's hand went to the sword at his side and he began to pull it from its shealth, prepared to protect his prince. "Wh-"
Lachlan brought up his hand, bringing it against Garetma's and placed himself between Garetma and the small girl. "Good day," the prince answered her, surprised by her distinct elvish features. The he warned her, "You should be careful who you approach. You could find yourself on the wrong end of the sword."
"I-I'm sorry, Your Highness," Danae replied nervously. "I will keep that in mind." She then bowed again and slowly went on her way.
She found herself in front of a shop, the female shopkeeper in the doorway. She looked at the storefront, interested. "I wonder if I should start here..." she said to herself.

Dona
Dona smiled warmly and stood to the side, hearing the girl commenting to herself. "I personally believe this is a good starting place for any occasion, dear. Have a look around." Dona, unlike other humans, did not seek to look down on elves. She herself was looked down on for her many reasons - looking like an evil witch or like a harlot, depending on whose opinion you asked.
"Let me know if you need help finding anything."

King Meray Niao
The king leaned against the large pillows, breathing in the fumes of the medicines that had been rubbed on the wound that spread across his chest. The fumes made his stomach churn but his personal doctor refused to treat the wound any other way.
His eyes opened as he heard a knock on the door. "Enter," Meray responded.
The messenger bowed. "My lord, the messenger has returned from speaking with Catalyna as you requested. She will be arriving within the hour as you instructed."
"Thank you," the king said. He glanced over to Derean, his butler. "Please show her in when she arrives."

Danae
Danae nodded, looking around the shop. There were crystals and ingredients for potions, other items of magick, she didn't know what to make of them all. She didn't know any magick, she could only create a little wind if she put her mind to it.
She was soon overwhelmed and looked at the shopkeeper, asking nervously, "I believe I could use some help. Could you help me?" As she asked, she fingered the pendant around her neck.

Dona
Dona nodded, coming into the shop more. She didn't like crowding people, since the place was already cluttered with trinkets as it was. "Of course I can help you. What are you interested in finding?" she asked calmly. "Healing tonics? Spirit wards? Protection talismans?"

Danae
"Uh, I suppose I could use a talisman," Danae answered, hesitating as she looked at all the things in the crowded shop. She was still fingering her pendant, something she did when she was nervous, but she was becoming a little calmer thanks to Dona's calm voice.
Then she stopped, standing straight and tall, or as tall as she could being an elf. She then looked at Dona, showing her the pendant around her neck, and asked, "Do you know what this means? I've had it since I was born, but I don't know what it means. Could you help me?"

Dona
Dona eyed the pendant critically for a moment before shrugging slightly. "It's a lovely piece, but if it has a meaning I don't know of it. I'm sorry," she apologized before leading the girl to the area she had selected for protection pieces.
"Now, there are many kinds of protection talismans. Evil spirits, former lovers, etc. Of course there's also the general talismans, which actually are more of a good luck charm..." Dona trailed off in thought for a moment before shaking her head lightly, her braided hair swaying with the movement and the beats on the end clicking slightly.
"Did you want a specific type?"

Danae
Danae looked at Dona expectantly, hoping she had answers to her question. But when she replied that she knew nothing, her eyes lost their sparkle. "Oh, it's alright," she said.
She followed the shopkeeper to the talismans, looking them over. "I'm not certain, I'm sorry," she said, fingering her pendant again. She was silent for a moment, then asked, "I wonder if you would have something to protect against storms. It seems they follow me, especially when I am angry."

Dona
Dona frowned a bit. "Storms follow you when you're upset?" Dona adopted a thoughtful look for a moment, something tugging at the back of her mind. "Could you demonstrate this for me? Or at least explain the times this storm has shown up?"
Dona had a hunch as to what the problem was, but didn't want to give herself away in the process if she was wrong.

Danae
Danae looked around as if she was checking to see if anyone else was in the shop. When the storms came to her home, she had been very angry. Her father seemed to understand, but everyone else looked at her with suspicion, and it was more than the fact she was an elf in a human castle.
When there was no one else around, she found three rose-colored spheres. She concentrated hard, and the objects suspended themselves in the air. She went to the back of the store, the spheres moving casually with her as she moved out the back door.
Danae smiled, seemingly having the objects under control, then she looked at the sky above her, seeing the clouds roll in. "No, no, I didn't want to do that..." she said quietly. She closed her eyes, letting them fall to the ground. When they fell to the ground, there was a clap of thunder before the clouds rolled away, revealing sunshine.
"You see?" Danae looked at the shopkeeper, picking up the spheres and giving them back to her. "I have only tried to do that a few times, and each time a storm comes up. I don't know what it means."

Dona
Dona raised her eyebrows slightly when the storm clouds began to form. Moments after Danae stopped using her powers they dissipated, but Dona had seen all she needed to.
"I believe I have some idea about what is going on with you... Please, join me inside," she said. She replaced the spheres on the way to a small table by the front of the shop. It had a view of the windows.
"Have a seat," she said with a small smile as she carefully sat down herself. It was impossible for Dona to simply sit while wearing the dress she had on. "I believe that you are, to put it frankly, an elemental." She let that sink in for a few moments before asking, "Would you like me to make some tea? There's a chance we could be here a while."

Danae
Danae slowly sat across from Dona, staring at her with questioning eyes. "You do?" she asked.
The shopkeeper had a problem sitting down, but when she did, she shocked the elf with her revelation. "I am what?" she asked. "What does that mean?" Then she nodded when Dona offered tea. "Of course, if you have answers, I will be here a while."
